I have gone and asked Andale High School seniors how they felt on starting their last year of high school. Some say they’re excited to get out of here and start their next chapter in life. Others say that they are nervous because they don’t know what adulthood truly holds for them in the future. Majority say they want to go into college and set their future up. The others are planning on jumping straight into the workforce and chasing the money now.
Getting out of high school and getting into adulthood is scary for some and relieving for others. You can always prepare the best you can but you really never know exactly what life will throw at you. There are definitely some things you can look forward to as well, such as, new adventures, meeting new people, and pursuing your passion. The way you look at things can really make or break your motive to do something, so if you think positively throughout your journey in life you will be good. Â
With that being said, I asked the seniors for advice for the underclassmen. The seniors responded with some great advice like stay focused on the school work, participate in things that interest you, and respect your teachers. Some other seniors will just tell you to find loopholes, cheat the system, or use quizlet for everything. If it were me I would most agree with respecting your teachers, because if you respect them then they like you and it makes that class so much easier when the teacher likes you. Give yourself high expectations coming into your freshman year just so you know what you need to do.
For the new freshman coming in it’s best you evaluate yourself. Preparation plays a huge role in your success in high school. The teachers aren’t asking for a lot out of the students. They just want work to be done the right way. If you can come into your freshman year and stay on task then you’re already ahead of some other people. Another thing that is huge in high school is not taking it for granted. Four years may seem like a lot, but in reality with the right group of people it all goes in a blur.
