Every year the NHS, National Honor Society holds their one dollar Easter egg sale during lunch time. There are many prizes that come along with this fundraiser. These funds go towards keeping the Andale NHS chapter alive. The current rate for annual renewal is $385.
Prizes are gathered by NHS members who go throughout the community asking businesses for donations. The prizes are put onto little slips of paper and are then shoved into eggs for students to buy. During lunch students are able to buy as many eggs as they would like to purchase each egg being one dollar.
I asked Mrs. Hammerschmidt questions about the fundraiser from her perspective. I asked her what a money goal the NHS fundraiser was trying to achieve and she said ¨The goal they were trying to achieve this year in the NHS fundraiser was $500 or more¨. Another question I asked was how did you come up with the idea of selling eggs for the NHS fundraiser and her response was ¨She did this at her previous schools she has taught at and she wanted to keep on continuing the tradition at Andale High School. The last question I asked her was if she thought the fundraiser did better this year or last year, and she said ¨Day one of the fundraiser was about the same as last year and I think that the second day just by looking at how many eggs were sold I think that it was overall better then last year¨.
There are many different prizes that are included in this fundraiser, such as IHOP gift cards, Dillons gift cards, Gambinos gift cards, Fuzzys Taco gift cards, Chick-Fil-A gift cards, Baseball hats, Sunglasses, Free Crumble Cookies, Panera gift cards, Wendys gift cards, Starbucks gift cards, various other gift cards, t-shirts, grade boosters for classes, free mini golf, free ice cream, free food and drinks, and water bottles.
This is overall a very successful fundraiser for the NHS and the tradition will keep going on every year.
