Aria Pearce, a freshman at Rock Creek High School, started her 2024 outdoor season March 9th at the Cal State Ben Brown Invitational. Since then, Pearce has continued turning heads with her supernatural speed. This season, she has set herself new PR’s in both 100m and 200m dashes.
Pearce opted out of competing in high school track simply because there isn’t enough competition to push her. So as an alternate, Pearce competes at college meets unattached, which just means she doesn’t compete with a team. Being unattached also means that she can’t win medals, kind of sad considering how much time and work she puts into her practice.
Pearce set new PR’s this season as mentioned earlier in the 100m and 200m dashes. Her old PR’s were 11.49 in the 100m and 23.80 in the 200m. This season at FHSU Pearce ran 11.38 in her 100m dash and a 23.14 in her 200m dash. Not only did she set new PR’s, but according to MileSplit, she is the fastest female in Kansas to ever run those races. Nationally she ranks 2nd in the 100m and 1st in the 200m. Pearce ranks number one all time in the girls 200m for freshmen.
Aria has been competing in college meets since 8th grade, and it’s her long term goal to compete in the Olympics some day. Her coach and father, Nathan Pearce, has been doing his very best to ensure that Aria has the best opportunity to participate in track long past high school. Last week Pearce competed at the KT Woodman Classic at WSU, and this week she competes at the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational.
