You may see some new faces teaching classes at Garden Plain High School. GPHS is excited to welcome two new teachers to the staff this year. Mrs. Kelsey Brack is teaching English 1, English 3, and yearbook, and Ms. Paiton Bruce is teaching integrated science, astronomy, and physics. They’re so excited for a new start, and a great school year!
Mrs. Brack has been teaching for a total of 10 years, and this is her 7th year teaching in the Renwick District. She previously taught at the Garden Plain Middle School. She said she loves teaching both middle school and high school equally. Although she said, “The kids in high school tend to be a lot calmer”. Mrs. Brack looks forward to experiencing new things with the students, and getting to do fun activities with them. When asked what her favorite thing about the Renwick District was, she responded with, “The support of the community, and how everyone is there for each other”.
In her first year of teaching, Ms. Bruce is looking forward to a good year. She has been working in the healthcare field, and is working to become a physical therapist later in life. Even though it’s a big change going from healthcare to teaching she’s looking forward to this year. Ms. Bruce is excited to get to know the students and build bonds with them. Ms. Bruce said her goals for this year are, “To stay organized and be able to provide for her students”. Ms. Bruce said if she could teach any other subject it would be P.E. or anything related to the human body. When asked what her favorite thing about Renwick was, she replied, “How family oriented it is and how everyone knows each other”. Ms. Bruce went to high school at Andale so she knows how supportive the Renwick district is.
Garden Plain High School is so excited to welcome Ms. Bruce and Mrs. Brack. The students can’t wait for the school year with these new teachers! They are excited to see all the things they bring to this school. Meeting new teachers means new opportunities to learn and be inspired. This year is already off to an amazing start.
