The Garden Plain High School has a business called The Nest. The Nest is a place in the high school where you can buy food and drinks and lounge around. It has chairs, tables, recliners, and much, much more. It is also one of the best places to socialize and have fun with friends. The Nest was started and is managed by Gina Clark who is also the College and Career Advocate at the high school. It’s also run and managed by the Marketing Applications students of Garden Plain.
The Nest has a great number of items. For example, they have fountain drinks, frappes, freshly baked cookies, and daily specials. On Wednesdays you can get chicken or steak tornadoes for only $1.50.
Trevor Catlin, an employee at The Nest, was asked what his favorite part about working The Nest was, and he said, “I really enjoy making the cookies.” Cookies at The Nest are only $0.75 per cookie.
The Nest has been understaffed this semester, but continues to be very busy. The reason for being understaffed is due to the schedules of students wanting to work The Nest conflicting with other classes they are wanting to take. Kayla Coleman who is also an employee at The Nest was asked how they are managing being understaffed, she replied, “We just been working as hard as we can.” Clark added, “This is a very small group of five kids managing The Nest this semester, but they are mighty. They are working not only bell-to-bell, but beyond the bell. They are hustling every day while also learning as they go. They haven’t complained one time about putting in extra effort or working extra time. They are just here to serve their fellow students and customers in the best way possible.”
Thursday, Jason McAndrew, from Eck Agency honored the five Nest Marketing Applications students with the “ECKellence Award” for their hard work and dedication to running and managing The Nest, despite being understaffed.
Some new items at The Nest include a few new energy teas called The Cyn-Tea, The Sweet Tart, and The Party in the USA. You can get these new energy teas for only $3.00 each. Another big hit at The Nest are the breakfast sandwiches. The two options for breakfast sandwiches are the pancake sausage egg breakfast sandwich and biscuit bacon egg cheese sandwich.
The Nest offers online ordering to the local community that can be picked up curbside. Check out the online site and order at https://the-nest-8663000.square.site/.
