Andale High School is excited to welcome a new face to the Agriculture Department this year—Mr. Day, the school’s new FFA Advisor and Agriculture teacher. With eight years of experience in teaching and guiding young agricultural leaders, Mr. Day brings an assortment of knowledge and passion for agriculture to the school’s program.
A Strong Agricultural Background
Originally from Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Mr. Day graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Agriculture Education. He’s no stranger to Kansas, having taught in the state since he began his career eight years ago. During this time, he has honed his skills as an educator and FFA advisor, first at Pretty Prairie High School and now in Andale.
As an FFA member during his own high school years, Mr. Day knows firsthand the value of the FFA program. His deep-rooted appreciation for agriculture and its practical applications in everyday life is what inspired him to become an FFA advisor. “I really enjoyed my time as an FFA member and now I have the opportunity to teach kids things that will help them not only in school, but in their careers and lives beyond the classroom,” says Mr. Day.
Setting High Expectations for Success
Mr. Day’s passion for agriculture education is evident in his goals for the year. One of his major aspirations is to coach a Career Development Event (CDE) team to a national level, as well as to achieve a state championship. He believes that pushing students to achieve greatness is a big part of preparing them for life after high school. However, he admits that getting students to try new things can sometimes be challenging. “The hardest part about being an FFA advisor is encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and try new things,” he shared.
This year, he’s determined to help his students find their passion within agriculture and inspire them to embrace new opportunities. Whether it’s through hands-on learning, leadership development, or competition, Mr. Day’s goal is to help students reach their full potential.
Life Outside the Classroom
When he’s not teaching or advising the Andale FFA chapter, Mr. Day enjoys spending his free time outdoors. A lifelong fan of hunting and fishing, he also loves to travel when time allows. Additionally, Mr. Day and his wife, Morgan, who he has been married to for four years, live on a farm where they raise cattle and pigs. They are also considering starting colts in the near future.
Looking Toward the Future
With his experience, dedication, and enthusiasm for both teaching and agriculture, Mr. Day is excited to continue building the agriculture program at Andale High School. He is committed to making a positive impact on students’ lives and preparing them for successful futures—both in agriculture and beyond.
Andale is fortunate to have Mr. Day as part of its teaching staff, and his vision for the FFA chapter is one that promises to bring new energy and success to the school for years to come.
