Reese Stuhlsatz received Central Plains League Player of the Year for this 2024 volleyball season. A junior at Garden Plain High School, Stuhlsatz dominated the court as an outside hitter in a full 6 rotations. She is well deserving of this award because of all her hard work, not only during the season but also during the summer. Stuhlsatz had a 100% attendance during the GPHS summer weights program, demonstrating her dedication and determination. As you can see the dedication paid off, she is one of this year’s team captains for obvious reasons.
Stuhlsatz puts her team before herself and pushes everyone to be the best they can be. There were a lot of great players this year but Reese Stuhlsatz received the most votes of any other league player. Those votes were cast from the opposing teams coaches only. She held several spots in the top ten statistically for the league including: 1st in kills, 2nd in aces, 8th in digs and blocks, and 9th in hitting efficiency. Stuhlsatz said, “I feel honored and grateful for being chosen, especially considering my competition. We have a lot of great players in the league.”
Another Garden Plain athlete also received an award this season. Erin Smith made 2nd team all- league for volleyball. Smith was the libero for this year’s team and was also a captain. Smith is well deserving of this award because she never gave up on a play and always found a way to get the ball up. She had the 2nd most digs this year in the CPL with 455 digs and led the league in aces with 62. Smith is only a junior so there is a lot more to see of her next year. Smith said, “My goals for next year are to pick up where our team left off and continue to keep getting better with every game and practice, and make it to next year’s state tournament.” Not only that, Smith would also like to pursue her volleyball career further after high school and play in college.
These two have really proven themselves this year on the volleyball court and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the table next year.
