The Station has been around in Garden Plain for a long time now. It is a local gas station that everyone in the town loves. Bryan Basgull and Jayna Bolinger, decided it was time to give the station some new features and a makeover as well to refresh it. They have done many things with the station such as a fresh paint job, renovations, new gas pumps, and of course everyone’s favorite, a new hot and ready to go food station that includes pizzas, breakfast pizza, and wings.
The new hot menu contains a lot of good food. All of this food is from the Hunt Brothers Pizza brand. If you are looking to put in an order for some food from 54 Station, you can look up their menu by clicking here and also check out all the features 54 Station has to offer. A 12 inch pizza costs only $11.99 and each pizza you add after that is $10.99. The 54 Station chose to use Hunt Brothers Pizza because it is really convenient and simple to make. It doesn’t take long to prepare and keeps it simple with the toppings. The wings and wing bites they provided were also a plus.
So what are all of the new additions in the Station? Jayna Bolinger, someone who played a big part in the revamping of the Station, explained many of the new features they have. 54 Station obtained new gas pumps, a fresh paint job outside, a roadside digital gas sign, new shelving, new products such as candy, donuts, etc. They have added new beverages like Alalni and Prime, a roller grill, pizza, wings, a new office and kitchen area in the shop, updated security cameras, a new countertop, and a new TV. Many of these things have been a big hit to the community of Garden Plain and are much appreciated. They are hoping to get a few other things like a possible slushie machine, frappe machine, and hot dogs.
When asked why Bolinger and the new owner wanted to revamp the station the reasoning was very community driven. Bolinger said that they wanted to be able to give more to the community, by offering more of a convenience store-like experience. So after taking around 6 months to plan everything out, they have made a great amount of progress. Because so much has changed, the feeling of nostalgia is definitely present because Bolinger has been helping with the station for many years now. Bolinger said, “It’s been the same for so long, so seeing all of the changes is weird.” With the auto-shop part of the station, Stuhlsatz Service, being moved across the road, there is more room in the shop that they have. They put in a new office area, as well as a new kitchen area for the hot food.
One of the reasons that Bolinger decided to help with this revamp as well was to keep it feeling more small town like. She said, “I wanted it to keep that small town feel, and to have that family owned feel to it.” To add on to that, she also changed the name to the old 54 road. The name is now 54 Station, because of Old 54 that it sits along and because she wanted to add some of that history in the name.
54 Station has made many great changes to their building and many great advances in their products too. Although there is so much new now, the Station will always be a Garden Plain original business that everyone loves and appreciates.
