In the 2024 Kansas Class 3A football state championship, the Andale Indians claimed a decisive 36-19 victory over the Topeka Hayden Wildcats, reaffirming their dominance in high school football. The game took place at Hutchinson Community College on November 30, with Andale concluding an undefeated 13-0 season.
Andale’s relentless defense and explosive offense were the keys to their triumph. Known for their powerful running game and disciplined play, Andale capitalized on Hayden’s defensive vulnerabilities. The victory marked a return to the top for Andale after a brief championship drought in 2023, ending a streak of four consecutive titles from 2019 to 2022.
Andale went into half down 13-19, but stayed focused. They forced a punt and capitalized with a touchdown and two point conversion to take the lead. From there the Indians dominated, shutting out the wildcats in the second half. The defense suffocated the wildcats and the offense got rolling.
Hayden, entering the game with an 11-2 record, displayed resilience throughout the season, overcoming significant injuries and a tough schedule. Their quarterback Easton Wahlmeier had a good year, amassing nearly 1,900 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. Despite their effort, the Wildcats struggled to keep pace with Andale’s well-rounded team.
