The Garden Plain Vintage Market has been a very memorable experience the past four years. This year’s Vintage Market will be held June 5, 2025. The 5th Annual Vintage Market is being organized by the city of Garden Plain and it consists of vintage antiques, hand crafted items, food trucks, local restaurant food, live music, and more. This year’s event is going to be full of excitement with a couple of live performances. Katie Ziegler and The Lough Brothers will be performing live on Main Street. Attendees can enjoy the entertainment along with shopping, eating, and exploring fun antiques.
We interviewed the owners of Danielle Rose and Co. which is a hometown, small business that sells furniture, décor, and more. They business has had a positive impact on the town and so many locals are very grateful for their services. When asked what their booth would consist of they stated, “Our booth will occupy two parking stalls right in front of our brick-and-mortar store. We’re excited to showcase a selection of plants, paint, and furniture, creating a vibrant and inviting outdoor display, while more items will be available in our storefront.” They expressed why they wanted to sell at the Vintage Market, “As a local business with a storefront on Main Street, participating in the Vintage Market only makes sense. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with both our loyal customers and new faces, while enjoying the exposure that comes with being part of this community event. It also provides a chance to network with fellow business owners.”
DR&Co. also described their most popular items they sell to customers. “Our most popular items can vary depending on the crowd, but we consistently see high demand for our plants, furniture, paint, and home décor. There are also years when our small gift items are a favorite. Additionally, we’ll highlight our refinishing and custom furniture building services, which allow us to create unique pieces tailored to our clients’ needs.” DR&Co. begins preparing for the event in March by getting their items ready to showcase.
Additionally, another Garden Plain staple, The Getaway Lounge, will be selling at the Vintage Market. The Getaway Lounge is well known for its delicious food. It’s a great spot to eat; plus if you’re not wanting to cook dinner, it’s an easy way to grab a meal. Blake Hill, The Getaway Owner, shared what types of food they sell at the market. “In past markets, we’ve sold breakfast burritos and slushies, and last year we did funnel cake fries and cake pops. Of course our regular full menu is available when we open our doors at 11:00 a.m. We have yet to decide what specialty items we are going to sell at this year’s market.”
Hill said that the food choices the make are because, “We wanted to do something for an easy to eat breakfast item so breakfast burritos were a big hit. Anything that is easy to eat while walking around shopping is what we try to do.” He commented that these popular items are a hit, but still take a lot of early morning special food prep, so they will look to offer something unique with a fairly easy prep time so they can still prepare for a busy lunch crowd that will definitely take more prep than normal. Hill described the selling process of their special items by saying, “If we prepare something special for the market, we usually sell it until we run out and then just offer our normal menu items for lunch and the rest of the day.” He concluded with how their whole crew will prepare and decide final details for the market. “We always try to do something different every year and last year we sold Getaway t-shirts and tank tops, so we may have a new design of shirt to sell and maybe other items we haven’t had previously. Food wise, we haven’t made a final decision, but we need to start making decisions now so we are prepared by market time. We usually have a special discount for things we sell at the booth.”
Ultimately through the hard work and dedication that everyone brings to the Vintage Market, it will be an exciting and impactful event. Each booth supplies all their best work and welcomes each customer by providing for their needs. The City of Garden Plain also puts in so much work to make the event run smoothly by providing and organizing for each business and booth’s needs. Overall the town of Garden Plain is truly grateful for the experiences we get to see through this awesome, cheerful, and social event!
