The inside of Rustic Timbers.
With wrapping up the end of the school year, we enter prom season. Prom season can be an exhilarating time for many students. From being a sophomore doing the fundraising, to a junior picking out the theme, and then being a senior at your last prom, it’s a magical experience.
For both juniors and seniors prom isn’t just one night of fun and dancing. The junior class officers spend their sophomore and junior year fundraising and planning the perfect prom to send the seniors off. They go through the cost of the venue, decorations, etc. When this year’s junior class chose Rustic Timbers for the venue, junior class officer Allyson Bolinger offered her perspective saying, “We were researching and came across Rustic Timbers. We liked that it was close and that it’s an easy drive.” Along with the close location, the venue was also kind enough to offer a discount. Bolinger said, “We went out there and toured it, and he offered us a really good deal. This summer we volunteered there and we did a barn turn, which is essentially taking down the wedding decorations from the night before.” Not only did Garden Plains junior class officers find a venue and fundraise for it, but they also took time outside of school to also help with the cost.
For seniors it’s a time to relax and dress up with their friends one last time before they start the next step of their lives. Most seniors tend to spend this event with their significant other or with a friend as a date. Aubrey Kitzmann who is going with Evan Farmer said, “I’m going with Evan because we can get jiggy on the dance floor.” On the other hand, some like to stick to their friends for a night full of fun memories and good times. Senior Brady Brack said, “I’m not going with a date because I want to be with my friends and have a good time.”
All in all prom season can be full of memories that will last a lifetime, but also require a lot of preparation on everyone’s part.
