Katelyn Fairchild, a record breaking javelin thrower from Andale High School, continues her athletic career in Collegeat Texas A&M University. Her staggering 190 foot, 2 inch throw let her finish third overall in women’s javelin and secure first team All-American status. This throw also earned her the title of “The longest javelin throw by a woman from Kansas in the state’s history.” Katelyn is also ranked No. 4 in the U.S Women’s javelin rankings
Apparently, Andale High School was a huge factor in her athletic career. Katelyn stated “I think Andale High School has helped me with my performance by developing me as an athlete and a human from the minute I got there.”
When asked where Katelyn plans to be in 10 years, she responded with “I hope to possibly be throwing javelin still (if my body/ mind will allow it), I hope to have a job that is fulfilling to me and allows me to help other people, as well as having a family to come home to!”
We plan to see Katelyn do even better in the future and for her to expand as an athlete. “I’m going in with the determination and goals of making myself 1% better every single day.” commented Katelyn. “I want to continue to grow into my potential and push for my goals.”
Katleyn hopes to continue her journey of Javelin throwing in the future, but she has additional things in mind as well. “My goals in life are to be happy (of course), be the version of myself that God has planned for me to be, and to leave a good impact on the people and places I come across in my lifetime.”
Katelyn Fairchild is an extraordinary example of Andale Highschool’s athletic ability.
