Ever since 2019 Andale High School football team has been the powerhouse of Kansas 3A football. They have won 4 state championships in a row including holding the longest active streak of 57 games won in a row; but that streak was ended by 10-0 Cheney High School on October, 13th of this year. The end goal is always being state champions and Head Coach Dylan Schmidt of Andale Football said that as long as the Indians reach their final goal of being state champions that record won’t matter anymore. After the season ended the Indians made it into the playoffs as a 2nd seed with Cheney having the first. In the first round of playoffs the Indians hosted and faced off against the Hugoton Eagles on October 27th. The Eagles came into the playoff with a 6-2 record. The Indians handled business by beating the Eagles 46-0. The Indians were either going to face the Scott City Beavers or the Smokey Valley Vikings. After the results of that game the Beavers came out on top and won.
On November, 3rd The Indians traveled 3 hours to Scott City for their Regional showdown in which the Indians won. The Beavers were talking a lot of trash before and during the game; but they couldn’t back that up. This upcoming Friday, November 10th the Indians are going to host the Collegiate Spartans. This game is going to be a rematch. The two teams faced each other back on October, 6th in week six. The Indians won their first meeting of a score of 28-7. Now the Spartans are looking for revenge and are tired of losing to Andale. The Indians are also facing quite a bit of injuries that could affect how they play; but Head Coach Dylan Schmidt said that everyone needs to step up it does not matter if your the backup or a 3rd string.
The Resilience of this Indian team has been amazing and they need to keep it up. If the Indians don’t let mistakes get in their way then they have a good chance of winning it all. The reason why Andale has been this successful all over the years is because the players are bought in. The players want to get better, they have a lot of fundraising and the community is a big part. Everyone does their part. The coaches take time out of their day to watch games and practice film and post it to help the players get better. The community shows up when they can and has as much as they can. Their support means everything to Andale athletics. Overall the Indians have a shot to win state this year and if nothing gets in their way. They have a pretty good chance.
