This Chiefs defense is the best defense in the Mahomes era so far. This defense so far has held their opponents to an average of 13.7 points per game. No team has scored more than 27 points this season against the Chiefs. Surprisingly the team that scored those 27 points was the Packers, which are currently the youngest team in the league.
This success can be attributed to the Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Spagnuolo’s unrelenting blitzes that he sends are a big reason for the success of this team. With stunts that allow corner-backs and safeties to get a free hit on the quarterback. Steve has been the defensive coordinator since 2019 now and was the former defensive coordinator for the Giants, which was the team that defeated the 07 undefeated patriots.
Some of the key players on the chiefs defense have been the two Corner-backs, Trent Mcduffie and Lajarius Sneed. This is Trent Mcduffie’s 2nd year but he is already one of the best in the league. The D-line has also been very good. With 2nd year player George Karlaftis having 10.5 sacks this year and also Chris Jones having 10.5 as well. Other role-players such as linebackers Drue Tranquil and Leo Chenal have been very good with Willie Gay and Nick Bolton (the Chiefs starting linebackers) being out at different times this year.
