Andale kicked off their 2024 track season with their annual Paul Schmidt Invitational. This meets name is in remembrance of Paul Schmidt and his impact on Andale High and the community as well
Andale dominated this meet having multiple first place finishes in the field events. There were some outstanding marks with Brayden Richeson jumping 6 foot 4 inches in the men’s high jump taking first place overall. Noah Horsch in the pole vault jumping 13 foot 7 inches for a new PR taking second overall. Jojo Cutler as well in the pole vault jumped 10 foot 6 inches taking first overall. Cooper Marx had himself a day in the hammer and discus breaking his old personal records. Cooper threw 171 feet and 9 inches for a 40 foot PR in the hammer and 152 feet 1 inch with a 2 foot PR in discus. Grace Rowland takes first place in her first ever time throwing shotput with a throw of 34 foot and 2.5 inches. Emily Struckmen also had a good day taking first in the women’s hammer throw with a toss of 125 foot and 6 inches. Andale’s field events have been dominant over the years for example, a 1st 2nd and 4th place in the men’s javelin last year at state.
For the running events, Laci Kelp took first in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 13.52 seconds. Piper Camp had a good day in running and field events taking first in the girls 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.91 seconds and going second in the girls hammer with a throw of 118 feet and 3 inches. The girls 4×1 consisting of Orth, Rowland, Orth, and Reichenberger took first in a fast finish with a time of 51.57 seconds. The men’s 4×1 also took first with a time of 44.25 seconds.
Andale had a very good 1st meet with some incredible marks in the running and field events. Andale has another shot at a men’s and women’s state title in track this year. Andale will travel to Great Bend this Friday, April 5th where they will have a tough competition.
