Stepping Up to the Plate with Paxton Spexarth

Stepping Up to the Plate with Paxton Spexarth

Paxton Spexarth is a senior at Andale this year. This is his fourth year playing baseball. Spexarth has played in the outfield his freshman and sophomore year then moved to shortstop last year. Spexarth is very excited about the upcoming baseball season this year. This being his last year he wants to end it on a good note.

Spexarth says he is very excited for the season to start, but some key players graduated so they are going to need some younger players to step up and help the remaining older guys to make a run at the playoffs.

Spexarth is looking forward to getting better everyday with his teammates not just as a player but as a person, and also continuing to make the transition to shortstop which was the position he played his whole life.

Everybody has a role model, for Spexarth, it is his dad because he taught him to work hard, and he is always there when he needs him. Sports wise he has been his coach since he started playing, so his dad has really helped him out.

Before every game Spexarth makes sure to do lots of stretching, light toss, and glove work. Spexarth says he needs his gum before every game or else he cannot focus.

Spexarth enjoys baseball because it is the only sport where you canĀ spit seeds or chew gum while playing the game.

Spexarth said his favorite teammate is Micheal Braaten because he was the only freshman to play varsity with him. Not to mention he is Spexarth’s hype man whenever he needs hyped up before competition.

Spexarth’s favorite memory from baseball was freshman year when he was able to play with both his brothers, and his friends, Seth, Tegan, Drew, and Brady.

This is Spexarth’s last season in high school. He has high hopes for this year as they chase that state title.
