Teaching With Potential

Mrs. Pote is a 1st grade teacher at St. Marks. She has a TikTok and Instagram page. Pote posts every few days on both platforms. Pote says she loves teaching, and she saw more and more teachers share their classrooms, outfits, fun ideas for their students, and funny/real life things that happen in the classroom. Pote believes that it brings her joy when she comes across other teachers’ social media pages, so she wanted to bring that same joy and laughter to others.

Pote is very passionate about having a welcoming classroom for her students. She wanted her classroom to be a place where her students walk in and feel safe, loved, and happy. Pote also states that it is important for her as a teacher to WANT to be in her own classroom. She loves walking in every morning and hopes her students do too.

Pote isn’t overly committed to her social media profiles. She engages in it because it brings her joy and she aspires that other teachers will stumble upon her page, and find resonance in her content. She is happy to inspire other educators in her digital platforms.

Ever since Pote can remember, her goal has been to become a teacher. The uniqueness of every student who enters her classroom is something that she enjoys, and that is what she adores most about her profession. Pote’s desire is for every student to enjoy the process of learning and to feel cherished during their time in my classroom.

One thing about Mrs. Pote, is that she loves changes and thinks it is important to help you grow as a person. Pote is always open to adding new things to her classroom and also taking things away. You never know what the next year will bring for your classroom.

Pote says her coworkers seem to be very supportive and enjoy what she posts. She states that “I know social media is not for everyone, so my fear is that I will come across someone that does not support it”. For now, she just hopes that she can bring others joy or maybe take inspiration from her classroom and resources.

Pote wasn’t expecting anything big from her page and is just happy with posting and sharing her experience as a teacher. Pote’s advice for anyone wanting to start their own social media page is just be yourself. There will always be someone trying to criticize you and not like something you’re doing.  If it makes you happy and you want it badly enough, just go for it!

Go check out her platforms for yourself! Find her on TikTok (taylor_pote) and Instagram (teaching_with_potential).
