Mr. Mike Blasi’s Retirement

Mr. Blasi has been a part of the Andale community for a very long time. Blasi is not only a teacher, but a coach here as well. He teaches freshman physical science and sophomore/junior biology. Blasi is a tide end coach for football and is also a shot put coach for the track team. He has been involved at Andale High School for 33 years now, and is planning on retiring this year and also ending his coaching career.

Mr. Blasi is the type of person who just tells it as it is, never sugar coating things. He is never afraid to be himself around anyone. Blasi has been at Andale for a very long time now and has made a huge impact on this community. Just from being a coach and teacher, he has met so many kids and has had the opportunity to coach many great athletes. Many people in our community have come to know and love Mr. Blasi. Whenever someone just brings up his name it lights a smile on their faces.

Mr. Blasi is also very involved in the community. In the Fall Sports Season, he is a tide end coach for the Andale Football team. In the Winter Sports Season, he helps work the basketball games at the scores table. In the Spring Sports Season, he is the shot put coach for the Andale Track Team. Blasi is very involved and even in the winter when he was not coaching, he made the effort to be at least all the home games and also many of the away games he traveled to. That just shows the type of dedication he has to this school and sports programs.

Mr. Blasi also has many great stories and memories as well. Some of the previous track kids have said that their favorite memory of Mr. Blasi is when he wore the big chain at the State Track. More great memories is all the kids he has made do push ups for all the nicknames they have called him over the years. A fan favorite nickname, and probably the best, is Blaze-dog. He has a very fun personality and is never scared to get onto anyone. He has a big drive to win and is always pushing kids to be the very best they can be.

The community is losing a very good teacher and coach. He has impacted so many kids and families out here in his teaching career. Mr. Blasi is one of my personal favorite teachers and is always going to be one of the best out here in Andale. You never know what you’re going to get with him, but you always know that he is going to put a smile on your face. He looks out for his students and athletes, and will always have your back. He will always be a very important person to this community and is going to be missed as a teacher and coach. Thank You Mr. Blasi for everything you have put into this community!

This is my first year in the Renwick Review.  I am involved in FFA, volleyball, basketball, and track. I love how close our community is and how we all come together as one. Creed Mainz inspires me to be a better person and to push myself as a learner, he inspires me because he is a full time med student who is also volunteering and playing collegiate volleyball as well, while maintaining good grades. My favorite sports team is also the Duke Blue Devils.
