A Thank You to Veterans

A+Thank+You+to+Veterans

As Veterans Day is approaching, the Garden Plain Elementary HSO is giving an opportunity for the Garden Plain community to show their gratitude and appreciation for the Veterans. GPE Students will be creating cards and mailing them to veterans whose names have been submitted to the organization.

Veterans Day is a very important day for all of the U.S. It honors those who served in the military and their courage and sacrifice for their country. This federal holiday first was recognized after the celebration of WWI ending on November 11, 1918. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson officially recognized this holiday as Armistice Day. In 1954, after WWII and the Korean War, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill rededicating November 11 as Veterans Day.

Student are creating the cards and all someone needs to do is submit the veteran’s information. This act of kindness is a great opportunity for anyone to showcase their support, love, and respect they have for our veterans. Use the link below to ensure your veteran receives a card. After what they’ve all done for the U.S., they deserve a thank you and so much more. The deadline to submit names is November 5th!

Allyson Bolinger, Garden Plain HS - Renwick Review
This is my first year doing Renwick Review. I'm involved in STUCO as a class representative, KAYs, basketball, and volleyball. In Renwick we have the best support system, whether that be through the teachers or community, they all want us to succeed. A person that inspires me is Tom Hanks, as he once said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." I'd like to write stories, interview people, and create content.
