Andale High School Alumni: Jill Mize

Andale+High+School+Alumni%3A+Jill+Mize

Jill Mize graduated from Andale High School in 2004. Throughout her high school years, she participated in an impressive amount of activities.  She was involved in leadership roles including student council (stuco), National Honor Society and SADD.  She also did track, volleyball, cross country, dance, basketball, and choir.

High school was filled with many memories for Jill, especially those spent with friends. However, one memory that stands out was having her mom as a chemistry teacher and pulling pranks on her.  Jill says, “Sorry, Mom! You were just too gullible.”  As for her achievements, she doesn’t want to brag, but she was very fast at typing. If you need confirmation, she says to ask Mr. Reid.

High school friendships mean the world to Jill, holding a special place in her heart even today. While living in Nashville for about 10 years, she would always find a way to meet up with classmates when she would come home to visit.  She also says that it was easy to stay connected with them on social media and see what everyone was up to.  Looking back, she regrets not doing weights but she couldn’t bench press the bar the summer before her freshman year and she never went back.

After high school, she attended Newman University and graduated from the sonography program in 2008. She worked in the sonography field  until she decided to stay at home with her kids in 2015. Jill says that her husband also needed a babysitter. Jill also writes songs and plays shows. Mrs. Yenchesky was her English teacher and helped her realize how much she enjoyed creative writing. She gave Jill the confidence to write songs. Jill has released two albums, “Jill Martin” and “The Locals.”  Both projects charted on Billboard which had always been one of her goals.  Jill also sings at church and does shows with her husband, Logan Mize.  The couple released a duo project last year called “The Mizes.”  They moved from Nashville to Andale in 2018 along with their two children, Lincoln and Violet.

I am involved in cheer, track, and SADD. I appreciate how close and supportive the Renwick community is. I was a part of the Tribe before and helped develop it into Renwick Review. Someone who inspires me are my coaches for cheer and track. They help me be better at everything I do. one of my favorite sports teams is the K-State wildcats. P.S. I'm the founder of the name "Renwick Review"!
