High School Student Starts Her Own Floral Design Business

Claire created bouquets for the volleyball seniors.

Claire Mans, a senior at Garden Plain High School, has been running her own flower business for about one year now and she is loving it. Claire’s business, Fantastic Flowers by Claire, specializes in corsages and bouquets for family and friends.

Mans began her pursuit of floral design as a junior with the idea in her genius hour class at GPHS and she has continued to build it ever since. Claire said her favorite part of the business is getting to see her work affecting real peoples lives for the better. When asked if she would recommend starting a business in high school to other students she immediately said, “Yes! It’s great and gives you something to do”. She has contributed her work and designs to many events at GPHS including fine arts night, senior night, prom, and homecoming. The only downside she has with her business is receiving small orders.

Mans has increased her knowledge and training through self-learning and exploration, interviewing and working with experienced florists,  and doing job shadows with Cleo’s Flower Shop in Cheney, KS and the Dillon’s Floral Department.

Mans has also been able to reach more people by using social media and that has been a great way to build her business. You can check out her design work and contact her for orders by clicking these links to her Instagram account fantastic_flowers_by_Claire or on Facebook. You can also contact her by phone 316.494.3573.

Jenica Trout, Garden Plain HS - Renwick Review
This is my first year on the Renwick Review. I am involved with volleyball and track. One thing I love about our district is all of the amazing people. My teachers inspire me and motivate me everyday in and out of the classroom. I would love to take pictures of all of the great things that happen around the whole Renwick district.
